Luftkörperchen

Commissioned by Sonic Territories Festival for sound art in Vienna, Austria.

The sound installation is exhibited from the 10th of November, 2018

“This sound installation is an embodiment of my sonic and visual impressions which I gathered from an expedition to the Seestadt district in Vienna. The blowing wind, the walk on the gravel, the construction sites, the integrated remaining nature, the Seestadt as an experiment of a city development project. The wind in this vast open area left a strong impression on me and I want to make the wind visible and audible through the movements of the reeds and by means of contact microphones. The delicate, complex texture and rhythm of these “tiny air bodies” are enabled by the organic structural shape of the reed and its aleatoric movement in the wind.”

„Diese Klanginstallation stellt meine klanglichen und visuellen Eindrücke vom Ausflug in die Seestadt in Wien dar. Der Wind, das Gehen auf dem Schotter, die Baustelle, die integrierte bleibende Natur, die Seestadt als ein Stadtentwicklungsprojekt-Experiment. Ich möchte mit dieser Installation den Wind zum Sehen und Hören bringen durch die Bewegung des Schilfes und die Kontaktmikrofone. Die zarte, komplexe Textur und der Rhythmus des “Luftkörperchens“ entstehen durch die organische Bauform des Schilfes und seine aleatorische Bewegung im Wind.“
