Sand sand sand

Sand sand sand is a minimal music theatre composed and performed by duo Siedl/Cao. In Sand sand sand one comes into contact with „time“ in several ways and from different perspectives. Its slowness and its minimalism is a reaction to social acceleration and the overwhelming amount of information available nowadays.

Sand sand sand is a recontextualisation of the seemingly ordinary. It brings out different meanings through different layers of contexts, where a turn-of-the-century french waltz met by an encoded robot-like communication, where childhood photos accompanied by a singing nightingale, where words are set free to the air amid the music of „The blue Danube“ and New Years firecrackers, where found postcards from Austria and Vietnamese poetry coincide with a flock of flying wild geese, etc.

The process through which the music theatre comes into shape is through multiple ways of translating and encoding information – from language to Morse code, from Morse code to musical rhythm, from poem to number, from number to Morse code, from Morse code to body choreography, etc.
